Mardi Gras

Beads fly by
Kids grab for candy
Bands play Jazz
Spangled girls
Sweat and sugar sticks to me
Laughter fills the air

Catch the beads
The floats go by us
Look at that
Wonderful
What a way to welcome Lent
First one last Beginet

This captures all the energy of the Mardi Gras, Tony. You were clever to add the sweat and sugar...the jazzy notes play in my head as I read this winning piece. I know this will hit high on Nette's contest favs. Gwendolen

This is cool my friend and informative. Never thought about Mardi Gras being a prelude to Lent. Guess that's because I've never been to Louisiana/ Gret job. God Bless, JB

Hey, you forgot to mention the girls lifting their shirts! they were trying to ge me to do it when I was at Lake Havasu boating with hubbie. Like throwing beads at me will do the trick. Good grief. I really like this and hope to see Mardi Gras one day.

Such a lively description of the Mardi Gras, Tony. The beads fly most of the time. I was there for a Sugar Bowl game and women were flaunting their "goodies" to obtain beads. I didn't know it was tied to the beginning of Lent so you taught me something too. Best wishes in the contest! Love, Carolyn
