Marathon of Memories

On this day of tradition
Many years of good memories
Now many remembering tragedy
Many years reversed
By single day of misery

They always ran
Ran for victory
Some for personal reason
But on this day they ran
They ran for safety

Always remembered as the first
But now a forgotten history
Only remembering the worst
Many can only think
Think of what happened recently

Now when they run
It's not only for victory
Or for personal reason
They will always run
Run for this memory

A lifetime of tradition and good memory
Can be changed by a single day of death and tragedy

The message is clear and the theme is constant throughout the piece. Good work. Emile.

Thank you Emile, I just felt the urge to right this poem on the 2 year anniversary of the Boston marathon bombing. Being from Boston the tragedy just hits home.
