Many Leaves

Oh wondrous Walt,
how many leaves were
cut, bagged and mulched
before we were allowed
to come and smell
the lilacs in your yard?

:) Walt Wittman....What a lovely poem this is, but true...the did need paper and lots of trees were "sacrificed" before we got to read those lines. You are very ingenious with this write.

Hi Eileen, you are correct, indeed. I read somewhere that Mr Whitman spent 40 years writing and rewriting the book before he felt it ready for sharing...such dedication and I suppose, perfectionism is the basis for many wonders in the world of human endeavor. Thank you for you very kind words as always.
