Manual for a Pallbearer
There is no manual on becoming a pallbearer.
You are just chosen
You become one of the chosen.
To be a proficient pallbearer, you need a speak-easy stride.
Like somebody who's coming down from a low high.
You'll need a steely casket grip.
You don't want the dearly departed to slip.
You must have a dry stone face like an Egyptian sphinx.
Or a Tennessee copper head snake.
If you crack any hint of a smirk or smile,
they'll remember you longer than the one who's died.
You must be as humble as a black pasteurized milking cow.
You must be stoic for the blue-hearted crowd.
There's no training manual on becoming a pallbearer.
You are just chosen.
