Man's Alternative Universe

Perfection, born in the mind of man, yearns

imaginations of immortality haunt his soul
with his realized acceptance of a finite life
he struggles to understand the why

Ugliness, born in his heart, cripples

his hunger for power, to rule, to lash out
for being born a weak creature, so
all must suffer to appease the pain
burning in his mind, creating stronger demons
that allow hate to have no conscience
concerns or regrets

Understanding, born from his perceptions

a creation of his own making
used as a guide to lead him
through the wilderness of his thoughts
a lighted lamb held to show the way
on the winding journey through life
as he struggles on a world scale
to cause the death of millions
or enlighten millions

Beauty, born from his soul

it gives voice and vision in dimensional perspective
from the sub-conscious universe within
with its well of emotion, that fills his whole being
with a state of exhalations and wonder
whether a painted smile
hung for appreciation in a museum
or a faint smile from the mouth of a newborn baby
beauty is the innocent eyes of youth
exploring the exchange of inhibitions
while watching a sunrise in silence
each revealing their own beautiful moment
expressed in the dawn of their awe and wonder

Man is all these things and more
he holds every alternative reality
whether in his hands or mind, guided by his soul
what a simple frightened creature he is
what a complex and creative creature he is
destined for greatness, destined for failure
either way, when he vanishes
from the face of the Earth
whatever is left here, won't remember
