Mania

Don't you hear the sound of a heartbeat?
Don't you get what's happening here?
Don't you hear the sound of this heartbeat?
Not from love, not lust- but fear.

What mania incites such evil?
What manic instills these dreams?
What mania must swirl inside that skull,
Turned on by pleas, by screams?

Don't you see the trail behind you?
Don't you know the horror you've done?
Don't you hear the sound of your own heart?
Or has the darkness completely won?

What mania incites this bloodlust?
What manic you've brought my way
What mania lies with us in this darkness
Where no sane creature dare stray.

Dark poem, Juli-Michelle. Hopefully it is metaphorical imagery... If so, well done. If not, run for your life.
