Manhood
There is an inescapable risk to this life,
A risk of losing all that is sacred.
But to fight to retain a spark, a spark of the whole and the good is as sublime a
challenge as death itself.
To risk, to fight, to die, this is the plight of a man.
Some must overcome more to the find the mountain top of manhood.
But to fight until the end, against the weakness within.
And still retain the kindness to help others find their way.
This is the battle that leads me to stray into sorrows untold.
But I tell you, Though I may rest, weary and sullen,
I will never give up this war,
To attain the everlasting.
To fight, to rage, to win, to die and become compassion incarnate.
This is the war of man, the war that often eludes me in the distraction of adultery.
But in the end, because of a Grace that is greater than my will.
I will attain it.
