Mandaean Baptism of Jesus

On the morning sun’s day, Jesus went down
To John, in a garment of holy white
To the Jordan, to be baptised and crowned
Splashed with the Jordan’s tears of pure delight
Three times immersed in waters from the height
Three times, the Baptist signed the lamb’s forehead
Three times, John brought him water to be fed
A small dove of holy white downwards flew
To the risen Jesus, and a voice said
“My son, today I have begotten you”
