Man of Wisdom

The wrinkles in his face show wisdom and worry
They show years of time on this earth
He has seen many of his friends and family pass on
But, he has also been around for many births.

His hands are marked by callouses and lines
They share a story of hard times
They show committment to his family
You can read alot in those lines

The strain in his voice shares stories
Of the way that life used to be
The way life was when he was young
This history, he wants us to see

So, when we get the chance to listen
Our attention to his we owe
So we can pass on his life to others
So that true history others will know

My X husband is a gardener Sherry. I am familiar with those callouses and lines you speak of. Lovely poem full of your own wisdom. Congratulations.

That beautiful old face! What the youth miss out on when they don't embrace! Congrats, Sherry!
