Making the Bed
Another dawn, another day,
I rearrange the disarray.
Before I dress, before I eat,
before I exercise my feet,
I must smooth and tuck the linen sheets.
I fluff the pillow, pull the spread,
and once again, I’ve made the bed.
I'll face the day with pride and strength,
and soon be back to bed at length.
All day I work until I drop,
then back, again, to bed, I hop.
Perhaps you think my life is sad
But I'll not cave and stay in bed
I'll tuck the sheets and smooth the spread
Perhaps you call my routine dull?
I will find some peace in something small
