Making Memories
We watched motionless as gulls took flight,
Our feet embedded in sand just short of the sea,
A merciless sun beat down on our already scorched skin,
Our fingers entwined there was no need for words.
We were free just as the gulls that flew into the blue horizon,
We knew summer would end and the warmed sea would turn cold,
Distant lands called to our closed ears from across the Aegean Sea,
For now, we waited for the sunset and a night sky to reveal a thousand twinkling stars.
These are the memories we would hold forever in our hearts,
The sights and sounds that have grown familiar to us,
Taking my hand we strolled together lost in our own thoughts,
Just one last look before we turned towards our whitewashed home.
