Magic Show

I chanced onto an older chap
who fell into my lonesome lap
I said, O please, would you join me
for a cup or two of soothing tea

A look of thanks swept over him
So I replied, Please come on in
The tea is hot and you are cold
Please pardon if I'm rude or bold

He looked around, and then he gasped
What's that on your desk, he asked
My screen, of course, I brushed away
his question as some small talk play

But he was scared and couldn't speak
I saw that he'd begun to freak
As pictures moved across the screen
It seemed that he was frightened clean

Out of his gourd -- no longer bored
I asked him if he liked my Dell
He gulped, That creature is from Hell!
Well, his comment really rang a bell

I asked him if he knew the date
  And he replied -- 1808
I said, for you, Is this a magic show
Yes sir! -- a black one -- Let me go!

Friends, as sure as stars above do twinkle
My guest that night ~ Rip Van Winkle

Delightful Gerson. I knew someone once who was convinced the devil lived in the computer lying in wait to pounce on the user. :) Linda

A delightful piece of work, Gershon. I always wondered what it must have been like for ol' Rip. Sounds like he was homeless when he woke up. I'm sure he was! Good stuff!

Imagine having Rip Van Winkle for tea! Your story was so interesting, Gershon, and I wondered about the strange fellow, until the ending, when it all was made clear. Delightful! :)

You are my inspiration for these kind of narrative couplets, Evelyn. I've got a way to go to incorporate the kind of cheerful imagery you weave into your stories though. Thanks for setting a great example, and for your comment on this one! Cheers, Gershon
