Made of Scars

I lay awake trying to forget my nightmares wishing I had the energy to chase the stars
It's probably a good thing that I can't escape my heart
Because when I'm not sad I don't know how to create my art
my pen bleeds on the page because I'm made of scars

I've been in a bad place recently
I've been trying to live peacefully
But every day depression wants a piece of me
Trying to let go of all the baggage I thought I had to keep with me

I need to get my life back on track, Can't believe how much of it I've wasted lately
Drinking and visiting strip clubs, because I like feeling numb and naked ladies
It's still fun, but I need to stop before it becomes a bad habit
Judge me if you want, but we all have a way to run from the sadness

I'm not breaking the law and I'm not taking hostages
I'm loyal to those who are loyal to me and I'm not breaking promises
I'll find a new way to cope when I'm good and ready
Sometimes you put your heart into a relationship just to find out the love is deadly

they want to focus on my shortcomings and failures
But when I bounce back, I will not Slip, like I'm Corey Taylor
They beg me to speak my mind but get offended at my honesty
They're so attached to their own emotions it stops them from thinking logically

one day I'll find the energy and will to chase the stars
I'll repair myself and I'll no longer want to escape my heart
I hope if I manage to find happiness I can still create some art
Until then I'll spill my blood on the page as I'm made of scars
