Made In His Likeness
What do you do for fun Lord?
What makes you laugh?
What puts your mind at ease?
What gives you peace?
We are made in your likeness,
Your word says this is true,
How are you Blessed Lord?
In all that you do?
What causes you to pause?
What do you look forward to?
What do you do to rest Lord?
When your mighty day is thru.
How do you rest?
This is not meant to be a test,
Do you have a seventh day Lord?
Is your week ever thru?
Like me do you laugh or cry?
Do you weep or sigh?
Have you lost your temper?
Can you cry or whimper?
Have you laughed at a joke?
Or enjoyed a good smoke?
On what have you dined?
What is your favorite wine?
Do you like football?
What is your favorite team?
Or a good movie,
Perhaps a play that you have seen.
On these human questions I reflect,
I ask them with no disrespect,
I hope to get closer to you,
By understanding the things that you do.
We have come a long way,
Since ancient Biblical days,
When a man would surely die,
For merely touching the Ark as it passed by.
Are you the Patriarch of old?
Giving destruction as the prophets foretold,
Or the warm loving father of today,
As our Church leader say.
Maybe both,
Maybe not,
Your truth remains a mystery,
That we have some how forgot.
But I know I love you,
And I need you in my life,
Show me the truth of your ways,
Until I reach my Heavenly days.
It will all seem so simple,
When we speak of the days,
When I asked these silly questions,
About your mysterious ways.
