Ma Rainey's Train Yard Blues

"I went out last night with a crowd of my friends, It must've been women, 'cause I don't like no men. Wear my clothes just like a fan, Talk to the gals just like any old man." -Ma Rainey, Prove It To Me Blues You think I'm gonna love you You think I'm gonna bring you joy You think I'm gonna love you You think I'm gonna bring you joy But with so many women here What would I want with a boy? I got up Sunday morning I walked down to the sea I went out Sunday morning Just to see what I could see I saw some strapping young men But I found nothing there for me. Went down to the train yard To see what I could find They showed me some muscle And asked me to be kind I said I might be lonely But I'm not out of my mind. You think I'm gonna love you You think I'm gonna bring you joy You think I maybe want to Play around with your toy But with some many women here What would I want with a boy?
