Notes About The Poem

Lune -- Silence

old honkytonk piano
        the ghosts of your notes
               hover above you

          silence becomes longing
       for rhythm and rollicking songs
                      lost to time.

Neat! I like the nostalgia in this. It’s sad that these old songs get lost if people aren’t exposed to them. Cool photo to go with it. Congrats on your win.

SuZ - wonderful imagery of "ghosts of your notes" not lost but with life in waiting - ready to rollick again. I really enjoyed this poem. Congratulations! Well done.

I loved this touching verse SuZ. Congratulations on your Second Place win! I rescued an aging piano that had seen better days and it is a treasure of a baby grand, little marks of cigarettes and all. xxoo

Hi Connie: My reply to you went missing here. I told you of a black honky tonk piano we left behind in Australia with hand carved flowers in the wood. It had such character......so this image did trigger something in me. Luv, SuZ

I like old instruments, they give off vibrations even when they are no longer playable. You have gifted us good vibrations with this piece. Blessings Rick.

Hello Suzanne … it must have been a rollicking time when tunes were belted out of these honkytonk pianos. The music is so distinct from what we are gifted with today - thank you Suzanne - Lindsay

Good morning Lindsay: yes in a way the old piano is a symbol of time passing and we look back with fondness on so many things especially good times. Best, SuZ

This is haunting and how right you are about some pianos...Have a feeling this one will do very well.

SI:Thanks for reading and your welcome comment... I used a lot of ‘o’ sounds to give it a sad and somb’re tone.. then switched to ‘i’ and ‘e’ sound to lift it and cut through the tension.

Love your interpretation Suzanne, went for the same visual., liked your one with the stones too. I made up my own first then realised you had to use one of Nettes, hope you're well. Good luck. Tom

First stanza is the strongest ... the ghost piano player is very cool to imagine. I wonder what "Lune" could refer too? Might have to go to the contest to see...

Thanks Tim: History always hangs around old objects. The form is described in Nette’s Contest. It is a kind of Ku with a visual prompt. SuZ
