Lunch at CayCay's

Please enjoy this fictional imagining of my lunch at CayCay's, inspired by the realization that there are some subtle differences in our food tastes.

Who should I have the pleasure to meet?
Why, CayCay, who invited me over to eat,
where she nicely offered me a seat -
"Have some pig's feet! You may choose
to have them with or without shoes."

"I'll take the shoes, but hold the laces",
I said, as I tried to not to make weird faces,
but I was thinking, "leaping lizards",
when she dished out chicken gizzards.

Just about then, I was ready for walkin'
when she served up cornbread. Now we're talkin' -
grits, and hominy and sweet potato pie!
I can't wait till next time I'll be stoppin' by.

You are around 50 on the new poems list. I bet this goes higher. Usually they do. I love this one and remember seeing it before. Caycay is one of my besties here. She is such a sweetie

Wow, that's great! I'm glad you like it, and this is a great way for everyone to know that CayCay loves tripe, gizzards, and pig's feet - lol! Agreed, CayCay is a sweetie!

This is awesome, David... And it 'stars' two of my absolute favorite people on the Soup. Kudos, Gershon

Excellent verse on my sweet friend Caycay. She was talking to me just today about eating all this yucky shellfish and tripe, etc. The cornbread and sweet potato pies. That's the good stuff!! A fave

Oh, my gosh, this is priceless to me, but I was remiss not to offer you any prepared tripe. Next time we dine, I'll atone and treat you to cow stomach that will make your taste buds moan. When we share pretend meals, we'll pretend you're not a vegetarian. Of course, I'm faving this. (just read this to Tim, he got a big kick out of it.) THANK YOU, my poetry friend.
