Luna Orchestrates Halloween
Luna’s October madness laughs at the gleefulness brought by Halloween
So orange children can put their thumb and index finger up and squeeze
Fresh orange juice of her in their minds.
Parade of laughter from the west. Luna’s attention is drawn.
Masked trick-or-treaters, mothers following, looking at their cellphones.
Cowboy, space invader, doctor, lawyer, alien, unicorn, princess, princess.
Luna rolls her eyes. Too many princesses again this year.
A lone giggle from the east. Luna stares, not seeing a human at first.
What was that? Where was it coming from? She concentrates.
Sees bare movement from the witch on the porch of a house.
Is that a costume? Another giggle. Luna rolls her eyes. Knowing it should be a cackle.
Too early for owl to hoot, but Luna stares at him anyway.
It would be scary and fun for the kids if he would. He turns his beak on her.
Luna does not mind. Counts six more princesses. Where is their imagination?
She had better work harder during their dream state.
