Lullaby
Lullaby and goodnight, sweet angels sing.
Beside the bedside light, above your cot,
In silvery voices, blessings they bring:
For my little babe, bad nightmares come not.
Now behind the curtain, moon greets good night.
My little child sleeps, secure in my arms.
And above the moon, stars shine their bright light,
My babe, she will sleep, away from all harms.
Little lullabies, sung the whole night through,
Baby child asleep, but mother awake
I sing her small tales though not all true –
Like beasts that dance under moon on the lake.
Lullaby and goodnight, mum sings to babe,
As night turns to day, and darkness will ebb.
