The Whiskey Taster’s Flavor Guide

Luck of the Draw

At the coffee shop
Thumbing through a magazine
One photo catches my attention

A child’s tearful eyes
Reminding me how life is so unfair
Tragedy being humankind’s lottery

And there’s no questioning
The meaning of it all
Fighting feelings of helplessness

As one meaningless salty tear falls
Into my six dollar cappuccino

Really enjoyed the perspective you took, it was an intriguing approach that delivered one heck of a punch. A reminder of the horrible truth that while many are doing simple, ordinary things, many others are suffering - surely this hits everyone at one time or another. Now, I say to you - well done! Poetry hugs ... CayCay

the saddest moments when I had young children was seeing the faces of children that were filled with pain from bad parents and feeling helpless...
