Lucie
Lucie came into my life
when I was down and out.
She showed me how to live each day
and taught me not to doubt.
Lucie needed me as much
as ever I could her.
She had to overcome her fright
and learn again to purr.
She was afraid to be touched;
rejected my caress.
Somehow, between the two of us,
she let me, ne’er the less.
Now we have a bond of souls
and always will, I think.
We climb in bed and snuggle up
and seal it with a wink.
