Loyalty, Trust, Respect and Betrayal

My heart is weary and my soul is heavy, I have removed the dagger but I am bleeding still; and I know I will have a deep scar forevermore, oh, but could I remove your name from my mind; and how I wish that I had never met you, friend! You see, I am very accepting of any flaws you have, of our differences in opinions about politics and such; but, I am demanding in a friendship with two things loyalty is upmost- and I must trust you; I heard you were talking behind my back, friend. So, what do I do with this information told? Isn't it odd how others like to hurt with gossip; anyways, you have showed your true colors to me, and they are not pretty. But, what to heck to do??? Well, Dad always told me to keep my friends close , and my enemies closer! But, YOU will never have my respect ever, ever again, friend. _____________________________ October 15, 2019 Poetry/Verse/Loyalty and Trust Copyright Protected, ID 19-1188-815-02 All Rights Reserved. Dear Heart, Try not to dwell on trivial things. Easy to say, I know. I found this poem from you. It has a message of hope. "I know the pain you are feeling my friend, this a sorrow that I have felt; through this sad time on me you can depend, in my strong arms you can just melt. It will be fine, and love will twine. Again in time, sweet joy will climb. I will be here my friend- until you mend." Your friend for life, -Richard

Richard, thank you for the beautiful comment, I wish I had strong arms in which to melt but that person is a name engraved in stone now. Perhaps my expectations in friendship is to high but somehow I can never accept betrayal ~

Sad, but also sad when someone gossips which isn't always truth. I'm so sad about this... My prayers go out to you, dear friend. Bless you with love and prayer, Gina

Gina, thanks for visiting and commenting. Gossips are like noxious weeds, I think the devil whispers in their ear, maybe that is why I expect loyalty from friends ~

Powerful piece, Dear Heart. I'm sure many can relate. If it's a truth for you, so sorry, but it is very well-written nonetheless ~ kudos!

Hello, thank you for the compliment and yes, it is truth, so thanks for your compassion. Oddly it feels almost like the stages of grief, which I suppose it is, as it is a death of friendship. My dad told me that it would take courage not to let the person know that I know, and it sure does!
