Author's Notes:  This romantic Petrarchan Sonnet, entitled:  "Love's that Magical Wonder," is a love sonnet that I let free flow in this instance in "Varied Meter" as opposed to Iambic Pentameter or Hexameter which I've used in other sonnet writes.  This is another love-romance poem similar to others I've most recently written.  As with many of my past writes along the same line, this is a very emotive poem because of the subject at hand being discussed.  I hope you find this one to be of interest!!  (Gary Bateman, January 17, 2015) (Petrarchan Sonnet)

Rhyme Sequence:  abbaabba|ccddee

Meter:  Varied

Categories:  allegory, beauty, emotions, feelings, love, romance, and together.

Love’s that Magical Wonder My passion for your love is beyond any measure, And as I reflect on your angelic wonder my love, I know that God blesses us always in Heaven above, And that our life together is such a special pleasure! I know my dearest that your love is my true treasure, And as surely as I ponder my thoughts of you thereof, I can always take such heartfelt solace in our love, By feeling the warmth of your being with such pleasure! We should always think of love as that magical wonder, And its power in making us as One, not to be torn asunder! Love my dearest will help us find happiness in this life, As we chart our mutual destiny as both husband and wife! And one day when our souls ascend to Heaven high above, Our spirits will be together as One feeling God’s pure love! O what a poem so full of desire, absolutely phenomenal, Gary. Sonnets are just wonderful parameters to say your say in the most precise and wonderful way; I know that because I am a sonnet enthusiast myself. without further ado, let me just hand you a Big up ''7'', keep it up!

Choene . . . I see you've tracked me down too. I too enjoy sonnets very much (and 'heroic couplets' in iambic pentameter as well). Robert Lindley (just below with his comment) is another gifted sonnet person. I highly recommend reading his works too. I'm in the middle of a book edit now for publication and will not post many works this month, but by early March all my stuff will be with my publisher -- and then I'll be online regularly!! I will be writing more sonnets as well. Very nice to meet you as well!! Best Always, Gary (Thanks for the "7")

Thanks Robert as always!! My second book in 2016 with have a section on selected poetry, a section on nothing but sonnets, and a final section on 3-4 short stories (that I've already worked up the storyboards on). Appreciate the Super Seven rating. (I hope my writing never disappoints!!) Best Always, Gary

Gary, you are quite the romantic poet. Your words flow like warm, melted butter, across a sea of cinnamon buns. I have never attempted a, Petrarchan Sonnet, but you are the Soup;s, sonner master. Beautifully done.

ML, Again -- Thanks for the most kind and gracious words!! I do try, but there are some others in the Soup that write the sonnets well too!! But thank you so much for your compliment!! I hope you know that I do enjoy reading your poetry too very much!! (I will be by soon to check out your latest writes.) BTW, I tend to use the Shakespearean Sonnet format more, but the Petrarchan gives one a different focus with two part 8-verse Octave and 6-verse Sestet format. I'm going to try some of the more rare sonnet types in the future that diverge from Shakespeare's and Petrarch's influence. Best Always, Gary (P.S. I like your words "warm, melted butter, across a sea of cinnamon" -- what imagery!! GB

Hi Gary! A very beautiful pen ! Such a very beautiful and romantic love sonnet, you written here again my dearest friend Gary. Your pen is truly golden! I just love your sonnet and enjoyed reading it very much. You've done quite an amazing job here with this Petrarchan one. The rhymed pattern blends so well in this one and it is good that you chose to experiment with this one by going with a varied meter.Very happy and moved always by the love that you display and cherished always for Ingrid. Always keep it like that and always hold on to each other as a couple no matter what takes place around. Wish you all the best together as a couple. Your sonnets are for sure always a pleasure for me to read. I really love this one a lot! Thanks for sharing it. A very solid 7 +++ from me! Have a very lovely Sunday! :) Love and hugs! XXXOXXOXO D. ^O^

Hi "D"!! Thanks so much as always for your read, gracious and kind words, and for your most thorough review. I always appreciate greatly the sincerity, depth and analysis you provide. (I usually try to do the same in my reviews too!!) I am very fortunate indeed to have the relationship with Ingrid as I do. It's certainly the High Point of my life. And the words you say about always holding on to each other . . . say it all!! You're right, This Petrarchan Sonnet was better suited for a varied meter write. Thanks for the Super Seven My Dear!! Best Sunday Wishes, Gary XOXOXO

In this poem you have used an unusual rhyme scheme that has been a very good instrument to carry through your idea. You always write something different thematically or schematically. You have written here on the universal theme of love and god-connection.Brilliant unconventional . That is your strength.I am studying Rosaline a bit slow in the process so many new things are there. I wonder there are so many things to know and learn,to live for and die for. Love to you and Ingrid.Rajat

Hello Rajat!! I'm so pleased that you liked my Love Sonnet here. I really enjoy writing sonnets and heroic couplets in general because of the normal meter requirements in the verses. This Sonnet was better though with a varied meter approach. (I know that Ingrid liked it very much!!) I appreciate greatly your continued read of "Rosalia." This epic poem was truly a labor of love on my part. I'll be interested in your perspective when you finish reading Rosalia. Best Always with Love to You and Your Family!! Gary

Hi Anne-Lise!! . . . Yes for sure, Ingrid does indeed love this sonnet write very much. (She reads everything I write -- regardless of subject. She even gave me the idea for my epic witch tale called "Rosalia" that will be in part two of my upcoming book!!) And, I thank you so for your kind words (as always) and the Super Seven Rating. Best Wishes on the Sunday!! Gary
