Love's Denial

I've always been a logical person
But some days it alludes me
As I approach the brink of my emotional sanity
Despite knowing it's not true
I feel like I'm in love with you
Your smile, your eyes, the scent of your cologne
Dreaming of tracing my fingers down your chest
Safe and sound in your warm embrace
As you lay the sweetest kiss upon my lips
Enamored to the point of delusion
Till the day I again remember
That I'm not in love with you
I'll scream it from the highest mountains
Till the tears stream down my cheeks
A useless tale I'm telling
For we both know that it's true
I must never fall in love with you
I pray I'm not in love with you

Being in love and not wanting to be in love would be a frustrating place to be. An expressive write, Avery! Blessings, Kim M
