Lovers' Gold

Words spoken in the stillness
Between dark and dawn
Are lovers’ gold

Each a treasure of truth
Glimpse of the soul
Not to be seen in the glare of day

Hold these words softly
For they are the essence of me

And unknown made known
For your eyes only to see

And as they fall like the tears
From my eyes
Pull me close

Feel me sob and shake
With the truth
Spoken in hushed tones

Then gently place my broken pieces
Back together again
And wait for the sun to rise
