Love the Little Child Inside You First

When you have been hurt
in terrible pain
it is difficult to release the fear
more difficult to trust

Especially difficult to trust in something you cannot see
Faith is not easy; it is not real until it is smack dab a part of you.
The first step is to figure out what you love about you.

Make a list of all the good things that you love about yourself.
This list should be a page long – at least thirty things.
Because if you do not remember to love you;
you will find it impossible to love others
and God is Love honey; God is love.

So how can you love God
Who made you in HIS image
until you get in touch with the little person
inside you who was let down, disappointed,
hurt, and abused?

Love the little child inside you.
Nurture the little you.
Protect, honor, revere and respect her.
It is the first step toward finding love and faith.
Have faith in you first; everything will then fall into place.

This was so helpful for me, Caren. Sometimes it is really hard for me to believe in a God of love, especially when there is so much evil and wickedness in the world, and I keep wondering where the God of love was during the holocaust. The holocaust, the Inquisition, and the Salem witchcraft thing affected me very deeply. I cannot seem to get beyond them.

You can Hank; just concentrate on the good - all the new babies being born, the toddlers who laugh at everything, the five-year-olds who say the funniest things without trying, the teenagers who try to be "one-of-a-kind" by dressing like all the other teenagers. I have faith in you finding and nurturing Little Hank. Go make that list!

Thank you Heidi. When children come to me and tell me how "anxiious they are" that they have "issues" I hear their mother's voices. I assign them the task of writing down fifty to two hundred good things about their life. I give them prizes when they bring the list back. In twenty-seven years, I have never not had one bring the list back for the prize. And they realize they are not so bad off.
