Love that saved stork

“It’s a very beautiful bird. It can never be ugly!
It’s the most beautiful bird in the world!”
- Quote by Purnima Devi Barman,
Wildlife biologist who saved
Greater Adjutant stork species
-------------------------------------------------------
Greater Adjutant stork
Uncomely looks
Despised by all
For being ugly
No other fault

No graceful gait
No melody
Awkward height
Impolite eater
Unsettled gaze

A woman fell in love
Raised an all woman
Hargila army to save
To educate, made those
Who despised love the bird

Rescued,
Rehabilitated
Cared,
Now the storks
Live in peace

Love can change
Love can conquer
Love is best when
Under pressure, so
Says the saved storks

An endangered bird
Brought back to live
Just because one
Woman saw beauty
In this incongruous bird

Thriveni, thank you for supporting my Pop Up Poetry—From Vinyl to Verse blog. Your interpretation of the “Under Pressure” song prompt is brilliant. I will read more about this lone biologist and her efforts to save the stork. Your poem is featured in the ‘Results’ blog so everyone can enjoy it.

Thank you so much dear poet for the prompt. I had my doubts in towing this song in different direction, the words "love dares you to care / And love dares you to change our way of caring about ourselves." emboldened me to go on. Dear sir, I am grateful to you for your precious time, it is an honor to write to you. Thank you. I am glad to get your invaluable comments. thank you.

This is an endearing poem. Storks are indeed lovely birds and they bring us babies. How cute.

This is so sweet! The story this tells while elucidating such a beauty behind their "unappealing" outside is amazing. Keep writing, dear!
