Notes About The Poem

This is my take on the Torah (Bible) portion read in synagogues this morning. It is from the Book of Genesis 25:19 - 28:9, and is titled 'Offspring' (aka 'Generations'). It starts with these words: 'These are the generations of Isaac, the son of Abraham...'

Love That Is Blind

They say in his old age, Isaac was blind
yet like his father Abraham, unusually kind

Rebecca, his wife, came from a family evil and cruel
her brother Laban tried to rob Eliezer of all of his jewels ...

Isaac loved his 'hunter-son,' Esau, a chip off Laban's block
in Esau's brother Jacob, her pure son, Mother Rebecca put her stock --

Foiling Isaac's plan to give his blessing to Esau, one so cruel
~ Love that is blind must not be permitted to rule

And to think God saved Isaac for just such a generational Patriarch. Cool read, Mr. Wolf ~;o)

I must say that it was a case of great treachery. Isaac couldn't find out his folly as he was blind. Blind cannot lead nor take right decisions ! Your take on the Biblical story applies equally to love that is blind !
