Love Survives

Does love really exist , or is it only in a place where a million stars remain in a place where pain can't remain . In vain men strive for greater and noble pursuits without prevail . If this life is prolonged by reasons unknown in years uncertain what may come . In my youth you think my mind daffy by its unyielding thoughts with your dismay. But love must remain in this world , for it is without self even this inhumane place still good deeds remain . For love cannot die it is rooted deep in man's souls in its distillation of men's evil hearts . In love wisdom is born amongst the elements of wisdom love is at its heart . So call me a fool laugh as you may , but love is my strength therefore I shall remain while all others fade . In love I have reason to remain in a place inhumane . Yet with loves wisdom even in inhumane I can sustain even though it remains hard . My pour soul is enhanced , enriched in loves wise embrace so I will remain while others fade .

James, I really don't want to harp but a) it is not fully iambic b) it is not pentameter the iambic beat is the nearest to how we speak in common language. la LA, ;a LA etc. pentameter means there are five such beats to the line. la LA, la LA, la LA, la La, la LA To watch the lilt of dancing azure bells, bright sunlight shining from the golden cups; while purple plumage ornaments green dells, I pass by mottled moor hens and taupe tups.

I will read more on the old masters of poetry , yet not fully embrace everything . By that I mean learn how they do something but keep my uniqueness with too . Each poet as his or her own why of speaking . I don't want to imitate but real in my writings !

I value a opinion , but I read a poem with iambic pentameter . Stressed , unstressed words . My above tells a story of love . It tells how love make sense of life . How there is wisdom in loves embrace . A poem is to tell a story . I told the story of how love overcame life . I did put sonnet , but I meant iambic pentameter . Which is a type of poetry .

James, I'm sorry but there is nothing there to judge. Don't assume that anything you write is automatically poetry just because some too lazy to learn the rules may say so. There are plenty of sites where you can go and read the works of the old masters. In my opinion the best way to learn is simply to read and enjoy. Then try to emulate what you like best.
