Love Speaks
I once asked of Love:
How will I know you?
Will you be a clap of thunder
Vibrating my heart?
Or the din of a clanging bell
Ringing in my head?
Or a wind song’s gusty tempo
Howling at my ear?
And Love answered me:
You will know me when—
All the things you are and cherish
You would gladly give
For the happiness of that one,
Matter not the cost;
For Love speaks out so quietly
In the need to share.
