Love Over Dinner
Petals blown about the room from open hearted scarlet blooms.
Parchment paper wrapped up fish in a buttered lemon basil dish.
Candles slipping from their wax which fill the table's cedar cracks.
Music low to match the mood of conversation, wine and food.
Hands held under table cloths which signify a blooming love.
Glances caught and re-exchanged and seating arrangements rearranged.
Nose to nose communication, world ignored with deliberation.
Tender hope grows from this moment as the thoughts are freely flowing.
Two souls quietly say goodbyes and walk off dinner under watchful skies.
They easily match each other’s stride and laugh to the wind, side by side.
