Love On a Rope

My love is on a rope
A string from my heart
That dangles around my neck
A noose of love
That when pulled too tight
Strangles my trust

Walked like a tightrope
I tiptoe around your lust
A balancing act 
From above
If I fall there’s 
No net or glove

So I light myself on fire
And walk out on the wire
Waiting to see
If you truly love me

Once again I agree with Karen. Perfect use of the metaphor. I admire your self-lighting of the fire. Love is maddening! Love cries for answers! Beautiful work! Man, I am sleepy. Perfect metaphor. Very cautious at first... then risk letting go of the rope,.. inch by inch out onto the tightrope... come what may. That blind trust thing is what always hangs in the balance....and to your comment below..."Free Falling" is one of Petty's BEST ever :)
