Love of My Life
Love of My Life
there have been days when I was close
with colors blooming up around
the footsteps of my gravel past
since then more than I can count
has spiraled out beyond the
counted hours we have spent
sunlight grows through the curving glass
and sings a chorus of tomorrow
a firm warm hug of empty arms
around the hollow core
where have I been
too long waiting just to start
love is not what we feel
but what we do
together
this house of skin begins to fade
at last the earth recalls her
moist and pliant son
I have no name to carve above
no longer one as
currents mix the flashing sounds
a new and larger open space
unfolds to wrap the frozen now
loving children gifted with a
hunger to forgive dance upon
these stumbling words that
fall so gracefully
below
savior
blessed
bodhisattva
in this churning ocean
let your fiery calm abide
pull from me the twisted
self indulgent melody
leave me broken on the rocks
so that we may again
breathe as one the air within us
