Love Is Just a Word

love is just a word.
an empty word,
a hollow word,
a word with no meaning at all.
then why...
why does my heart jump,
when you tell me you love me?
an empty statment,
said only to build up hopes and dreams.
hopes of seeing you again,
dreams of neber leaving your side.
love is just a word.
a word made up to hurt those most innocent.
then why...
why do I wait for you,
to say those meaningless words?
why do I hold my breath,
as if desperate for those words
to cross your sweet lips?
love is just a word.
a hollow word that means nothing.
if so then why?
why do my eyes fill,
with disapointed tears,
when you walk away,
without saying those empty words.
I question myself,
on all of these pointless things.
I ask myself why.
why do I care so much,
for your meaningless endearments?
that pointless,
worthless,
meaningless word,
love...
it means nothing,
and yet everything
to so many.
but it's just a word.
a word filled with lies.
no meaning at all.
love is just a word.
a hurtful,
and yet wonderful word.
love...
that stupid
stupid word.

Great statement! Some of my poetry is similar in idea as yours. You should stop by and read a little.
