Love Is But a Game of Two

Love is but a game of two, I've noted with curiosity. But who will pair me, who? Who will choose someone like me? It is a game, so they say, It is a way it seems for all. It is a game for two to play, And if played well it will pay. But in all the places that I've been, In all the ones I choose to go, No one like me will ever win, That I've seen, that I really know. In all the experiences I've got The only thing my heart will melt. But to be with you it seems will not, I've seen it in the places that I've dwelt. For how can I love a beautiful one when I'm ugly, How can I love a perfect lass when I'm miserable? How can she be with someone like me? How can she sit at an impecunious table? I am an island to myself With sands and stones of lachrymose. And she should keep it to herself That hope is but an overdose. Love is but a game of two, I've noted with curiosity. But who will pair me, who? Who will choose someone like me?
