Love Is a Joke

This is funny
Like a joke
Though they say love can never be a joke
Though most times all love really ever is
Is a joke
So be prepared to laugh
At the moment your love ends the joke
Even if you fake a laugh or a smile
All love is the joke of the year
Cliché you say
Though all the promise and kisses just seem funny to all but you
Just lie between the covers wishing love wasn't just a joke

You lie in bed awaken by the nightmare of someone leaving
I guess clowns aren't funny any longer
For love has taking over the parts of clowns and anything funny
Held by thread
Sewing more then just a stupid sweater
Read the punch line of everything
We're just laughing at love as if it was a joke

Just a joke
Made from love
The punch line so funny
Holding on to what may seem as a joke
Believing it may be just plain old love
Just a joke
