Notes About The Poem

Love Is

Love Is

An old man sitting all alone
holding a cup that wasn't his.
When someone asked him about love.
What do you believe it is?

At first he seemed to look away
and tears filled up his eyes.
He said love is grief you feel
each time somebody dies.

Love is being faithful
when your body wants to stray.
Love is never leaving
when part of you don't want to stay.

Love is like a river,
it's so much more than a whim.
Love is loving someone
when you ain't much liking them.

It's seeing deep inside a heart
and though not liking what you see.
Love is taking time to love,
someone a lot like me.

Love is every pain you knew
every heartache ever met.
Love is things you wish you could
but still you can't forget.

Love is with you always
it's what you gain and in your loss.
Love will live forever
it was proven on the cross.

I think you described Love beautifully Edwin. As they say in the wedding vows, for better or worse etc. Love is making a commitment and keeping it! I loved your poem and am fav'ing it Edwin! 7
