Love Insomnia

Your fervent pen in weary hand
 dyed feather flowers
in a vase at your side
Nocturne of force,
 scratchy eyes in due course
belligerent brain on a spiraling slide
Words of a whisper
heard in a dream state
Conscience of unconsciousness
You write until daybreak
cautious eye wonder
of letters sealed up with your kiss
Slip off the covers
on bedding unmade
and crawl under down and dissolve
This hard to breathe feeling
in morning subsiding
You slide into sleep thinking this must be love.
