Love In the Rain

The summer rain, soft and sweet,
freshens everything in sight.
Curling my hair and soaking my feet,
leaves me looking quite a fright
but still makes my spirits light.

Summer rain lulls me to sleep.
The sound is like music to me.
I fall into a slumber, deep,
and dream so peacefully.
Dreams of you and me.

The summer rain takes me back
to kisses in the rain.
A time when your kisses had the knack
to drive me nearly insane.
Oh, those memories remain.

The summer rain, soft and sweet,
freshens everything in sight.
Rain on faces as lips tenderly meet,
arms around each other, tight.
When everything felt so right.

You've written well, I could picture the scene as I read through.

Love in the Rain inspired me to write a few poems about a year ago. There are so many ways to be with nature, this is surely one way of uniting. Have a lovely evening Francine.....:)

Romance in the summer rain can be very intoxicating, Francine, and the sound of rain helps me sleep peacefully too. Lovely images fill your poem, dear. I know what you mean about looking "afright" though. If a lady's wearing mascara, she'll have streaks down her face. And the hair? For some it frizzes up and for me it goes flat. Enjoyed reading and remembering passion in the rain back in the day... Love, Carolyn
