Love for His City

Why does my soul love this city so dearly?
What causes the depth of my passion for her?
Are not other cities more pleasant or lovely?
Are not other places more safe or secure?

Yehovah adorns her, and He is her glory
He swore that His eyes and His heart there remain
He shared with me part of His love for His city
Connected my heart to the hill of His reign

It’s true that this city would hardly hold beauty
If not for the lamp and the promise of God
For Zion was chosen as His royal city
And there He has chosen that my feet should trod
