Love Dies Ii

Since we met a year ago

There has been times

I have thought 'no'

How can this man's moods

be so fleet

One minute angry

Then so sweet

Giving me compliments

A rosy glow

Then it happens

Again I think 'no'

Take yesterday

we had been at the shops

buying clothes

and sugar drops

Later at our flat

we argued

at his moody gloom

He lost control

and wrecked the room

Later as calm fell

He apologised

Held my face

and looked in my eyes

"It will never happen again,

I promise you"

Foolishly

I promised too

Then as he opened the Vino

Looking at him

I thought 'no'

Too many times

we have tempted fate

Easy for love to turn to hate

Before that happens

I have to be strong

Be realistic

It's so wrong

I packed my bags

One Saturday

Left a note

as I couldn't say

What I wanted to

If I did

I was afraid

Arguing would begin anew.

Ahh yes, the unfortunate vicious cycle of "love." Good job capturing it!
