Love and Thorns

I so adored this rose
I would tenderly hold it close
Wanting so lovingly to prick
My finger
Afterward I carefully let the beads
Of blood trickle down the stem
Of innocence 
It is not your fault oh gentle 
Bewitching one 
I found another thorn as I held 
The stem tightly,  a tear seeped 
Down my cheek.  Blood dripped 
To the ground.
I broke into gentle weeping lightly
Every blue petal of this rose 
I so adored
