Love

Man but an empty shell if it weren’t for love But love comes in so many shades Man can love himself more than god above He can love his gold his rude charades Or maybe have power over all the world And with passion man can love to hate Careless love to destroy and not to create One that’s false and preys on the weak To fatten an ego with trophies they seek With roses of color pretense to adorn A blossom atop and the stem with a thorn But alas we know of loves that were real Courageous men fell on their swords of steel From loving as lovers must love to be true Genuine love is one heart made of two
