Love
Love
- God loves us so much
The priest purred –
- That He doesn’t count our falls
So much as the times we pick ourselves up
And how much do I love God
After I’ve had to pick myself up?
How much? How much?
Am I upset with a blow to my pride?
To think that God is not at my side –
But am I so proud?
Perhaps I don’t know myself well enough-
It’s hard to fight temptation alone
God keeps too low a profile
I see only one pair of footprints
And they’re mine
They’re not divine.
Carry me God
And love me
Don’t be shy
Don’t keep testing me
Surely by now you know me.
Is it likely I’ll leave you at my age?
Is it likely at this stage?
You prayed for St Peter
Please pray for me
And help me.
Lead me not into temptation
I pray to you
But the devil blocks your ears;
Is Our Lady in tears
While Satan jeers…….?
I don’t know anything.
Dear God - let me know something.
I don’t need to eat the fruit of knowledge
But at least let me know if you’re on my side
Maybe I’m not important enough
Or maybe you’ve got other engagements
Or maybe because you don’t want me to lose my mind
Or maybe due to some technical fault beyond earthly control
Or maybe because of the communication barrier
Or maybe because of the distance
Or maybe you’re trying to see
How much I can take.
Don’t – for my sake
Don’t – for your sake
Please don’t – Dear God……..
If you love God
You will keep His commandments
But if you love me God
Please help me to keep them.
I can’t manage alone
Please don’t let me break again
Lord make me chaste – now!
Don’t let me be the devil’s toy
Please don’t – Dear God…….
Keep a high profile
On the cross of temptation
Don’t let me have to repeat your words
Dear Lord Jesus -
My God My God
Why have you forsaken me?
I think you only said it once
But I’ve felt it more than once.
Don’t forsake me
Please don’t – Dear God……
Help me
Stay with me
Fight for me
Love me
Please do – Dear God……..
