Lotus of the Nile
Lotus,
a name given to her.
Someone highly beautiful,
the crowd would run to see her.
Astonished by her talent,
her movements were something new.
She was a rare form.
for her dance was not like the others.
The Nile, her traveling road.
she spent her time traversing between lands,
giving the people a show.
Her dance, so unique.
The way she moves to the desert beat.
She has caught the attention of royalty.
They want to see what's been heard.
In the palace,
as she graced herself to the nobility,
during a festival for the gods.
the rhythm of the drums makes her move.
her body rolls, her belly swirls, her hips bounce.
The people watch her dance.
They are entrapped by her dark eyes.
Swaying hands, the flow of her cobalt skirt.
The rattling of her bracelets.
Her feet sweeps across the floor,
as her curvy frame follows.
Her hair drifts with her,
as her bronze skin glows in the candlelight.
The sheer fabric flows with her figure.
the love of performing for her pharaoh.
her beauty was rare to them,
for they saw her as a breathing flower.
