Lost Words

Trembling with fear
In the depth of night
But no "I'm scared"
Was ever in sight

Mind dizzyingly racing
In the wake of day
But "I'm anxious"
I dared not say

Weight of the world
On my chest
"I'm worried" was not
Uttered to the rest

Spiteful daggers
Pierced my skin
While the "I'm hurt"
Remained within

Empty promises
Suffocated with blame
"I'm angry" lost,
Replaced with shame

Achievements abundant
With fear, I leapt
The "I'm proud"
Inside I kept

Efforts unrecognised
Or simply ignored
Saying "I'm disappointed"
I could not afford

Unsure and confused
Blurred direction
Yet no "I'm lost" or
Communal reflection

Starry nights
Lost in an embrace
But even "I'm happy"
Was a hidden case

So many words crushing
This heart of mine
So they could soar freely
Hearing "I'm fine"
