Lost Within Me

Wading shallows of the abyss,
waiting to be swallowed by infinity.
Feeling the wrapping caress,
the folds of a dark wind.

An empty cold of continued ambition,
breaking me one piece at a time.
Feeling like the insignificant grain of dust,
waiting to be cast and swept aside.

Forever since I drew an easy breath,
the constant grip around my chest, tightening.
See the days ahead I wonder,
what fate has in store for me.

Will there be happiness in the valley,
or the purgatory of eternal emptiness.
Straining to hear one kind word,
but still there is only silence....
