Lost Souls

Souls of fate
took flight without delay
their journey cut short
on that dreadful day.

The world shocked in silence
was in early morning
New Yorkers watched in terror
while paper soaring.

Screams were heard
horror we could see
the events witnessed
unfold on our TV.

Evil
twisted
hatred
death
mass murderers.

What more can I say
about heartless men
they are horrible now
like they were then.

This world will smile without them
we shall live on
for us there'll be no more terror
and people doing wrong.

It will come to them all
they will be paid
just like Lucifer
all shall be laid
And their souls they took for granted
won't ever be saved!

Was there ever a day filled with more horror than this one. All over the world people watched mesmerized and still there are questions whether it was an inside job or solely an act of muslim terrorists. Your poem describes it all!

A very intriguing flight, Ryan! Somehow I like the image of the world smiling without the bad and horrible men.. a very deep poem when it comes to laying down those who won't be saved... a great poem, thank you for sharing,..LINDA

Ryan, this is a lovely poem and I did receive your entry. Please check the acceptable poetic forms for the contest. Blank verse is not among them and I can see you have a lot of talent so I hope you'll address the form problem. Best wishes, Carolyn
