Lost Portraits

I painted portraits of you in my heart till' dark clouds allowed pouring rain to fall washed away paintings hung that fell apart to leave my heart's chamber an empty hall my love for you held portraits that I hung now a darker place with its vacant walls where my love's dust becomes a wormwood dung when love died slowly in pain-filled thralls this chamber, this hall, now a silent place that's shrouded by a darkness of morass when vanished portraits left a lonely space where doors are closed and no one may trespass For all my painted portraits I will weep When I find them in my dreams when I sleep

Dear Frederic, What a poignant expression of loss and heartache. I loved how the imagery of washed-away paintings and empty chambers speaks volumes about the emptiness left behind when love fades. Your words evoke a sense of longing and sorrow. What a heartfelt piece—it's a beautiful testament to the power of love and its aftermath. - Blessings, My Friend, Daniel

Dear friend, dear poet, your poignant pen spills with sad beauty. The lost portraits of lost love exquisitely expressed with rich imagery and lovelorn metaphors as only you can do with masterful poetic strokes created with your soulful pen. A soul striking couplet a fine finish for a very emotive piece. Warmest wishes, dear Frederic.. ~Susan
