Lost Love

Where are you, now, my love?
Can you feel me, sense me?
Are you even present here?
I know you are here, by the scent.
It’s so overpowering and sedating.
There, I can hear your heart!
I can almost hear you breathe!
But, no, when I open my eyes
only darkness remains,
except the transparent image of you
lying forever next to me.
Wake me not tomorrow,
as I lay gripping your pillow.
I wish to forever be with you,
hold you, smell you.
Please, oh Lord, take me
and let me be with my lost love.
